AGM, New Committee, IFDA Awards, Disc Sports Day
Here's a second chance to read Dominick's email about that:
The 2009 AGM was held on the 3rd of October and was a very productive afternoon. 3 of the 4 proposed constitutional amendments were approved, a new committee was elected and, following some lively debate, they already have some ideas to be progressing with.
The IFDA Committee for 2009/10 is:
President: Dominick Smyth
Secretary: Ian French
Treasurer: Seamas Kinsella
At Large: Eamonn Cassells, Mark Earley, Dave Ferguson, Jim Henegan, Fiona Mernagh and David Perry.
We will be meeting next week to get find out where we are and come up with our initial plans for the year. Once we have a schedule for our meetings we will begin inviting people to send us agenda items. We appreciate your patience during this transition period.
Saturday also say the 2009 IFDA Awards Ball. A very well attended event say Irish disc throwers at their finest and was a fitting end to a highly successful season.
The winners of the awards were:
Lifetime Achievement: Dave Rosenfeld
Junior Player of the Year: Conor Hogan
Tournament of the Year: Cork Open
Club of the Year: Jabba The Huck
Growth of Irish Disc Sports: Dominick Smyth
Team of The Year: Ian French, Adam Glover, Conor Hogan, Laura McGrath, Fiona Mernagh, David Misstear, Dominick Smyth.
Most Spirited Player (Female): Sinéad O'Shiel Flemming
Most Spirited Player (Male): David Misstear
Player of the Year (Female): Fiona Mernagh
Player of the Year (Male): David Misstear
The Team of The Year award, presented this year for the first time, were 7 players who excelled over the course of the year, regardless of age, gender or division of play. The team was selected by a panel of judges. Other highly considered for this team were: Roger Beatty, Jared Cordner, Garry Hughes, Steve Keogh and Leo Yoshida.

The following day there was some other disc sports played in the Herbert Park. DDC, Guts and an accuracy challenge made for a fun day.

Bologna
Broccoli and Deadly Buzz both travelled to lovely Bologna for a high standard tournament on October 10/11th. You can read how the ladies got on here. I'm sure Broccoli will put a report up on http://thebroc.blogspot.com/ soon. In the meantime, content yourself with the knowledge that they finished 6th, won spirit and partied hard.

Whacking Day
The traditional first tournament of the new college season was held in DCU on October 17th and 18th. Now over two days, this was the biggest Whacking Day yet with 18 Open teams and 8 ladies teams. Full standings and spirit scores from the women's division are up on irishultimate.com and the open division will follow soon. A quick rundown:
